The MTL5042 is a 4/20mA current isolator designed for 2-wire or 3-wire transmitters. Below is its detailed introduction:
It provides a floating DC power supply to power 2-wire or 3-wire 4-20mA transmitters in hazardous areas, ensuring isolation between the power supply and signals to enhance system safety.
It reproduces the current signal in another floating loop to drive loads in the safe area. It supports the standard signal range of 4-20mA and has the capability to handle over/under-range signals (0 to 24mA) to ensure accurate signal transmission. For smart transmitters, it allows bidirectional communication signals to be superimposed on the 4-20mA signal, supporting multiple communication protocols such as HART, Honeywell DE, Foxboro, and Yokogawa Brain.
It achieves 250V rms insulation between input, output, and power supply, effectively isolating the electrical connection between hazardous areas and safe areas to prevent the transfer of hazardous energy. Meanwhile, a test of at least 1500V rms is conducted between the terminals in the safe area and hazardous area to ensure the reliability of isolation.
It adopts a "clamp-type" DIN rail mounting method, facilitating quick installation and maintenance. With compact component size and light weight, it is suitable for installation in limited spaces. It also supports plug-in connection terminals, simplifying the wiring process and reducing the possibility of wiring errors.
The operating temperature range is -20℃ to +60℃, the storage temperature range is -40℃ to +80℃, and the humidity range is 5% to 95% relative humidity, enabling stable operation in various harsh industrial environments.
It has passed strict safety certifications and complies with relevant safety standards. Its terminal design ensures no energy storage devices, and it can be connected to any intrinsically safe loop with an open-circuit voltage < 28V without the need for additional certification.
