MTL4514 is an isolated safety barrier belonging to the MTL4500 series. It is used to connect signals from switches or proximity detectors in hazardous areas to load devices in safe areas, while providing electrical isolation and line fault detection (LFD) functions. The detailed information is as follows:Single channel
- Switch Installation Location: Suitable for Zone 0, Gas Group IIC, Temperature Class T6 hazardous areas.
- Proximity Detector Installation Location: Suitable for Zone 0, Gas Group IIC, Temperature Class T4-T6 hazardous areas (if properly certified), as well as Division 1, Group A hazardous locations.
- Input: Proximity switches (NAMUR) compliant with the BS EN 60947-5-6:2001 standard.
Provides 7-9V DC voltage through a 1kΩ±10% resistor.
- Normal phase:
- Output closes when input current > 2.1mA (input circuit resistance < 2kΩ).
- Output opens when input current < 1.2mA (input circuit resistance > 10kΩ).
- Nominal hysteresis: 200µA (equivalent to 650Ω).
- Selectable by a switch on the side of the device. When an input line fault is detected, the channel output relay de-energizes, and the LED indicator lights up.
- Open-circuit alarm: Activates when input current < 50µA; deactivates when input current > 250µA.
- Short-circuit alarm: Activates when input resistance < 100Ω; deactivates when input resistance > 360Ω.
Single-pole changeover contact relay output.
Voltage range: 20-35V DC
-20℃ to +60℃
Approximately 1kg
- Adopts integrated circuit and surface mount technology, featuring high precision and low power consumption.
- The hazardous-side wiring is isolated from the base plate, and the base plate does not require intrinsic safety certification.
- A switch on the side of the module allows selection of channel inversion. These modes have been evaluated and can be used in IEC 61508 functional safety applications.
- BS EN 60947-5-6:2001: A British-adopted European standard titled "Low-voltage switchgear and controlgear - Part 5-6: Control circuit devices and switching elements - Proximity devices". It specifies technical requirements for proximity detectors in industrial environments, ensuring compatibility and safety.
- NAMUR Proximity Switch: A type of proximity switch conforming to NAMUR (a global association for process automation) standards, characterized by a standard current range (typically 1.2-2.1mA) for on/off signals, widely used in explosive hazardous areas.
- Single-pole Changeover Contact Relay: A relay with one common terminal, one normally open terminal, and one normally closed terminal. It can switch the output between two circuits, suitable for controlling load devices (such as alarms, valves) in safe areas.
- IEC 61508: An international standard for functional safety of electrical/electronic/programmable electronic safety-related systems. Compliance with this standard means MTL4514 can be used in scenarios requiring high safety integrity (e.g., emergency shutdown systems in chemical plants).
- Hysteresis (200µA): The difference between the input current values at which the output switches from "open" to "closed" and from "closed" to "open". This prevents frequent output switching caused by minor fluctuations in input current, ensuring stable signal transmission.
